art by usamah hkan paired with the prose it inspired by nahrin youkhanna

our goal is to support our artists and writers, and 20% of sales go to the artist and 20% to the writer. the remainder supports, a space of dialogue between artists and writers that aims to change oppressive narratives with stories inspired by art

youkhanna's poem on abandonment and identity:

I was angry when you left me

Every moment for years

But now I am

A colossus Gilded,

You cannot see

The gold. I have given it away

Let it be stripped from me

And put into the mouths of others.

But I get to keep my sapphire eyes

Two rivers that guide me

Take me to the shore, to sit

And breathe the sea air

To become its movement

And arrive
